Spring Grand American - Tucson Trap & Skeet Club - February 22- 28, 2010, by Chet Nelson Close to twenty North Dakota Shooters shot today's Spring Grand American at the Tucson, Gun Club. Jason Folvag leads North Dakota shooters through today's shooting breaking 100's in Monday's and Wednesday's singles, 99 in yesterday's doubles and 100 in the Spring Grand American Doubles Championship. He tied with 6 other shooters. He broke 20/19 over Fred Nagel from South Dakota to win the Doubles Championship in the second round. Jesse Molstre broke 99 in this morning's doubles. Other ND doubles scores today were: Louis Kuster 95, Don Ackerson 94, Orrin Johnson 93 and Gerald Wendel 91. There were close to 600 entries in today's doubles. During the week Gerald Wendel broke a 99 in singles with Louis Kuster breaking a 98. Bill Suda tied for Class B doubles with a 95 yesterday and broke a 99 in singles earlier in the week. He lost the shoot off for Class B doubles on a carry over to today. Brian Knutson still hadn't shot off for his 97 handicap tie in Wednesday's handicap..just checked trapshooters.com-Brian won his shoot off with Bill Peterson from Alberta. They were tie on the first 50 with Brian edging Bill out by one bird on the last 50. I believe a yardage trophy was at stake. Don Ackerson is leading in Class B overall all standings-he broke 96 in yesterday's doubles and I believe 94 in today's. Today's leading ND handicap scores were: Jason Folvag 95, Jesse Molstre 93, Brian Knutson 92, Dennis Klipfel 91 and Bill Suda 90. There were close to 700 entries in today's handicap. A Montana note. Hadn't seen Don Rimmer from Montana during this winters chain. He made the Vets All American Team last year...has shot in Bismarck many times over the years. Found out why he hasn't been shooting much. He broke his back in a motorcycle accident late last September. He says he is recovering, but says he isn't able to shoot more than 100 targets a day. Rains are forecasted for late tomorrow and early Sunday morning, but it is hoped they won't interfere with shooting. Most North Dakota shooters he for the Spring Grand will be leaving for home either Sunday right after the handicap or Monday. For the shooters who have been on the winter chain since December many plan to shoot Ben Avery next week. The next Shoot on the winter chain. |
